Today, Little Village residents and allies from across Chicagoland came together to say that Greg Bovino and his ICE and CBP cronies aren’t welcome in our neighborhood. As Bovino attacked Little Village last weekend, pepper-spraying a one-year-old and tear gassing 26th street in violation of court orders in the process, he continued to threaten Little Village and ICE agents used us as a punchline. We showed up across the community to demand an end to the raids while looking out for the safety of our neighbors and families.

Today was yet another example of how our neighborhoods, the city of Chicago, and the state of Illinois set a national example for how to resist Trump’s fascism by remaining vigilant to protect our families and assert our rights.

Bovino chose to threaten our neighborhood because on a daily basis we do what community members across Illinois have been doing all year: look out for each other and for our neighbors. And today he backed off because our resistance to ICE and CBP’s efforts to terrorize our communities is only growing.

Regardless of Bovino’s presence in Illinois, it’s no secret that the Trump regime will continue using violence to separate our families, and as Bovino’s caravan of terror spreads to other cities, we demand an end to the raids and an end to deportations EVERYWHERE.
