Diana Rubi is a native of Mexico City, Mexico and was raised in Peoria, IL. She studied political science, international studies, and Spanish at Monmouth College. From a young age, she started providing translation and interpretation services for community members in Peoria. She has volunteered with different organizations to provide additional support for citizenship classes and workshops.
After college, Diana worked at an immigration law firm drafting immigration forms, providing translations for legal documents, and working with clients. She has also done work in higher education through a program funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that works to diversify the professoriate. In her current role as a Program Coordinator, Diana works with partner organizations to provide support for the New American Initiative and the Immigrant Family Resource Program. Her passion for equity and justice is what has informed her work.
