Volunteer and Internship Opportunities at ICIRR

ICIRR has rewarding volunteer opportunities and challenging internships available. Learn more about grassroots community organizing, electoral politics, and immigration policy by taking a few hours every week to volunteer with us or inquiring about a summer internship.

Current volunteer opportunities at ICIRR:

1) Voter Registration volunteer – Come out and help us register new citizens to vote! Last year ICIRR registered 15,000 immigrants who are now citizens to vote and to turned out 60,000 immigrant voters out to the polls. We need your help registering our community to vote and to do get-out-the-vote work with our New Americans Democracy Project.

For more information, please contact Juan Jose Gonzalez, the New Americans Democracy Project Associate, at jgonzalez@icirr.org or 312-332-7360, ext 236

2) Citizenship workshop volunteer – At New Americans Initiative workshops, legal permanent residents receive free assistance to prepare their naturalization application, legal services (if needed) and information on free citizenship classes. We need volunteers to help work these workshops (usually on Saturdays for 2-3 hours).

For more information, please contact Luvia Quinones, our citizenship specialist, at 312-332-7360, ext. 212 or at lquinones@icirr.org.

3) IMAC volunteer (Easy Civic Engagement) – Our travelling Immigrant Mobile Action Center (IMAC) needs volunteers to help immigrants take legislative action with the push of a button! The IMAC campaign fosters civic engagement amongst immigrant populations by bringing laptop and phone stations to community events, where IMAC volunteers help people make calls and send emails and e-faxes to legislators on issues that truly matter to immigrants.
