On Monday, we partnered with several of our member organizations to host a press conference here in our Chicago office, where Senate President John Cullerton announced his intention to pass the TRUST Act through committee tomorrow. Cullerton was joined by several other prominent Senate Democrats, including Senators Iris Martinez, Don Harmon, Daniel Biss, and Cristina Castro, who all emphasized the urgency of passing the measure to protect both undocumented immigrants and strengthen local businesses that have been faltering for fear of immigration crackdowns. Representatives from our member organizations PASO, Communities United, NIJC, Apna Ghar, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice also shared their personal immigration stories and highlighted how the TRUST Act would provide them much-needed security to live their lives without fear, just like other Americans.
