Luisa Sosa

Luisa Sosa was born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala but grew up in the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago. She is a first generation college graduate who earned a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Latin American and Latino Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, she is responsible for coordinating ICIRR's volunteer program and recruitment efforts. 

As an immigrant, Luisa is very passionate about advocating and working for the advancement of the immigrant and refugee communities. She has previously provided informationals on various immigration topics and worked closely with community organizations all throughout the country. 
 
Before joining ICIRR staff, Luisa served as a Democracy Cup Fellow with Chicago Votes. Her main duties included classroom facilitation, grassroots and electoral organizing, and youth mentorship.
