Ms. Daysi J. Funes is the Executive Director of Centro Romero, and one of the founder of the non-for-profit community center. Centro Romero was founded to meet the needs of the community; thus began her career as a community leader of Chicago. In 1984, Centro Romero was officially incorporated as a not-for-profit organization. Also Ms. Funes has been recognized by her work with the community in the newspaper Today Chicago Women 100 women making a difference and also in the magazine women Leadership.
Over the past 30 years, Ms. Funes has been instrumental in the development of Centro Romero, a community based organization that serves the Northeast Side of Chicago.
Ms. Funes holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, Chicago Campus. Ms. Funes also a Board member of Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights ICIRR, committee member and Leadership of National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Community (NALACC), and was the President of the Salvadorian National Network (SAN) for three years and now member at large, and finally was the president of the Coalition African Asian European Latino Immigrants of Illinois (CAAELII).
